Well many of you already know this but yesterday was a crazy, scary and sad day. Someone broke into my apartment while I was in it. They took my cell phone and ...(dramatic pause)...heavy hearted sigh...sniff, sniff my IPOD, a Xmas gift last year from my parents, not even 1 year old, just a baby!!! On the bright side it could have been much, much worse. I have lots and lots of windows in my new apartment and not all of them have curtains yet other than that no one know why. I live in a good neighborhood and nothing like this has ever happened in this building, I spoke with all of the neighbors. It looks like he used a shovel that was in the backyard to pry open the kitchen after unsuccessfully trying to open the bathroom window (it had little locks on it). I had gotten up, done some work on the computer and then went back into the bedroom when I heard a loud noise, I thought it was coming from upstairs. It was really loud though and I couldn't tell where it was coming from, eventually I decided to investigate. I went into the kitchen and saw nothing because there is a big cupboard that blocked my view of the window and then I went back into the bedroom thinking I was crazy. Then as I closed the door (there are 2 bedroom doors) I heard a noise from the connecting office and moved toward the door that opens from the bedroom to the office as the intruder opened that door and I saw him and I said..."Hi"... oh yes it is true. He then said "oh" and ran out of the apartment he had the front door open and the door to the building open.
I guess renting for a number of years I am somewhat used to finding strangers in my apartment for various reasons and since I have never experienced anything like this before I naturally assumed this person would not be here to rob me. I mean who would really?? Well I will now but I mean it seems so unlikely, I've only been here 2 weeks. The whole thing is bizarre really, why my apartment why now? I don't know, mostly I didn't want to feel unsafe, so I had the landlord repair the window and put those extra locks on the 2 windows that didn't have them and let all the neighbors know. I might check out the hardware store to see if there is anything else I can find and also I need to get renters insurance ASAP! The cell phone is inconvenient and ipod is just sad because I worshiped my ipod, I loved it dearly and it was a gift. I also don't have to the kind of spare cash to just go out and buy a new one so it's sad but at least I still have my computer and my life, thankfully he wasn't one of those fight people he chose flight so I can't complain.
I feel much better today, it's a new day, I have to try and forget it happened and not let it scare me out of normal life. I wish I had some little doggies to keep watch with me but other than that there really isn't much I can do. Stuff happens. I'll be okay, I'm going to visit my little Cinnabun at my parents house and get together with lots of great friends in about a week, Z is going to be here for thanksgiving and it will be grand! Anyway don't fret, I am fine, a bit shaken but determined and working on some fun stuff. Just hope with me that whoever gets my dear ipod does not fill it with a bunch of crap music because it is used to a very high standard of AMAZING music and I think it would be difficult for it to adjust to crap music. Ciao.
