Digital Scrapbooking Dec/Jan issue...

well hello...
...thought I would mention the newest issue of Digital Scrapbooking Magazine is on newsstands everywhere now and I am one of the featured team members in this issue. That means I have a 2 page layout with 3 of my pages and all about me stuff...I also have 2 projects in the issue in other parts of the mag, gift ideas for the holidays. Mom and dad and sis can't look at the mag till after Xmas though...oopsy or I can show you guys that one part ;) Anyway cool stuff, great issue, pick up if you get the chance, as usual full of inspiration and ideas! Also cool because there are two pages in the mag dealing with the fact that I'm queer and my relationship with a girl. Kind of my "coming out" pages...officially for the industry anyway...been out with everyone else for a while but it's been a bit stressful/strange to deal with industry wise...I must say I have been hesitant and slightly worried about the reactions of my fellow Scrapbookers and have restrained myself and what pages I send for publication for a bit, I really don't like to restrain who I am because I'm proud of who I am even if not everyone understands it, it's OK because I am happy and happier than I ever was pretending to be a "straight" person...but no sense in hiding...I'm not really a hider...against my nature as a big mouth...

...I digress...in the end I'm very proud to be a part of Digital Scrapbooking Magazine, their obvious support of not filtering or editing my work and the support of my peers in the industry and that these were the layouts chosen for this issue of the magazine. It meant a lot to me. Check it out if you get the chance...I won't be able to post the projects in their entirety or the pages until after January so otherwise it's a loooooong wait!!!

soooo preeeetttyyy....anyways  it was lovely, and yummy and  I'm thankful for it.  I have had a really hard couple of  weeks which I will blog about later.  I was robbed at gunpoint on the stairs to my house and have been having a hard time adjusting since. It was nice to have a peaceful thanksgiving with my friends and to make a lot of food. I'm just not quite ready to talk about what happened yet. I'm ok, it could have been worse, and I'm thankful it wasn't. I'm thankful everyone I love is ok. I'm thankful to have so many caring people in my life. I'm thankful to have friends as dorky as me, friends who heart star wars and meeting strangers who are into comics :) Just plain thankful.

Spiritual Boner...

...is the name of my housemate Scott Barry's new art show in Portland at grass hut along with Jay Howell who I see often down the street at Atlas Cafe and Skinner. Check it out, Scott is famous and shit on Juxtapose and the show is called Spiritual Boner and that is why my friends Scott Rules...well one of many reasons...how lucky am I to live with someone who is sooooo talented!!! Constant inspiration in my house and I always have someone to ask about my work and they know their shit!! Not only do I live in a beautiful house in the BEST part of the SF mission but I inhabit said space with two, sweet, caring, respectful, amazing, passionate, talented and inspiring people. I'm so lucky to have found them, we have such a great house. It's my one year anniversary of moving into San Francisco all on my own baby...wow did I luck out finding this house, damn am I grateful and thankful and I made it through my first year here and managed pretty well for myself.

I mean really this is why I LOVE San Francisco, because of people like Scott and Jay and Natalie and Hannah and the other 100 people I meet and talk to everyday that are so fucking talented, I'm blown away by the amount of talent in this city every day!!! As hard as it can be to live here, alone, making art it is also the most amazing place to be. I get inspired just walking the streets. Anything worth having is hard at least some of the time.
