Happy Thursday... ...man i couldn't bring myself to blog this week...just having a hard time. It's monday! I have had a really hard couple of weeks...that's an understatement. So my weekends are very simple...I don't do much, I try to take care of myself, do some painting and see some friends. I have a lot of emotional ups and downs right now so that's important and I'm exhausted a lot of the time but I'm hanging in there. Anyway Sunday was lovely, I had lunch with a good friend and did some stuff for me and then made this veggie stew with biscuit topping VEGAN and OMG soooooo freaking AMAZING delish!!! I got the recipe from Vegan Dad blog which I will now try again and again!!! Seriously sooooo good the perfect food for fall!!! And now I get to eat all the leftovers!! Lovely and then I went to see some dear friends play a welcome home show which was so great and hard at the same time. I will blog about what I've been going through at some point just not ready yet. I listed a new painting on etsy.com today it's in my shop dear kiki This was inspired by the special friend I recently lost. And THEN I woke up and was doing my usual blog check and to my delight and SURPRISE I saw that I was featured on one of my favorite blogs Indieshopping I'm very excited and grateful!! In other news I don't get super political on here but Tuesday was so AMAZING and also bittersweet for a minority group I happen to be a part of. I have never been so proud to be an American and also horrified. But regardless of the inequality that still plagues this country this was a historic, moving election and a huge success for change!!! I celebrated with friends in the mission neighborhood of San Francisco, CA which was more crazy than New Years. A friend took the video below of the magic of the evening...it still gives me chills to watch it...
We did have a huge loss here in California for equality with the passing of Prop 8. I can't really express how angry, sad, hurt and horrified at this I am. I live in California because it is supposed to be liberal and progressive, safe for me and the ones I love but clearly we are just as filled with intolerance as every other part of the country. The fight isn't over by a long shot if you support equality please be ready to fight for it. daily kos and here SF attorney to file lawsuit
I will not accept the outcome, inequality is unacceptable period, this is a civil right and one day it will be legal for gays and lesbians to be married everywhere in America. We have taken a huge step in changing the face of America but there is still so much work to be done. The supporters of Prop 8 want us to "not be petty" and accept the outcome, but it is my right to DEMAND EQUALITY!!!!!!!!!!! Where would we be today if we did not DEMAND EQUAL RIGHTS????? Barack Obama would not be president today if minorities just "accepted" the status quo...oh no...I and my queer brothers and sisters and straight friends and supporters will not accept discrimination. Who are you to judge my sexuality??? It makes me sick...all of this quoting scripture and "trying to preserve the tradition of marriage" is INSANE!!!! Well if we want to preserve the tradition of marriage why don't we start selling women again???? Does that sound reasonable as well??? I am not asking you to change your religious beliefs even if I strongly disagree with them, your church does not HAVE to marry me, but The United States of America was founded on the principles of religious freedom and equality and marriage is NOT a religious institution and you and your church have the right to reject it no matter how much I think that sucks but I have the BASIC HUMAN RIGHT TO MARRY THE PERSON I LOVE!!!!!!!! MANY, MANY countries accept and embrace same sex marriage America...why? why? are you soooo opposed and afraid of equal rights? Why are you so afraid of those different than you? Why the HATE? Love is love and discrimination is HATE and I am sooooo sick of it!!!!!! FIGHT DISCRIMINATION WITH ME!!!!!!!!!!!1
