.::oh hello thursday::.
one day closer to Friday :D Starting today I'm adding some prints to the shop from my recent group art show at homo a go go I'm only offering prints of a couple of the pieces that have sold and are unavailable. Many originals are still available so message me if you are interested I don't know if I will be putting them in my etsy shop at all because it is part of a bigger concept I will continue to develop for future shows. So the First Print I'm offering in the shop is a print of the pirate piece 8x10 check it out in the shop!
i love this piece and i hope you do too!!!
This is series was inspired from the concept for the group show for
Homo a go go. As a culture of the margin, we are a people that has
often had to forge our own way within the constrictions of a mainstream
paradigm and marketplace. As a result we have consistently found
gorgeous, and hideous, ways to survive. And like the saying goes,
"Necessity is the mother of invention". Or as we like to think, "Your
cage is our castle". We are a subculture that often grows its own
fashion, food, gender, family, music, sex, recipes, and communication.
Artists interpret their own meanings of "Homegrown", from home to grown.
In these works I explore my own "home" what home means, the idea of
queer family and community, what it is to be queer, gender queer and
trans gendered today including sex, fashion and communication. I also
explore the use of pronouns and their relevance or lack thereof.
Also don't forget to check out my Sale Section for a ton of awesome affordable art deals!!! Stay tuned as I add more prints another one tomorrow and more next week!!!
I also want to share some pictures of my room/studio. I say room/studio because I live in San Francisco....it's really expensive here...one day I will be able to afford a separate art studio space...that day is not today :D So I live in a 3 bedroom apartment with 2 other people and a dog who I love. My room is a converted living room and is quite large with an awesome bay window so it's perfect. We have a deck and a yard and that's pretty lucky in this city....let me tell you! I live in the mission neighborhood and when I was first looking to move to SF from Oakland I wanted to live in the mission, I loved it and I wanted to be close to Dolores park. The first time my gf (at the time) took me there and I saw gay beach and all the cute queers and the sun and the grass I was like, this is where I want to live. I love it here even though sometimes it's hard and makes me want to scream, other days it's perfect and my house is my sanctuary!
ok pictures................
that's my desk/studio/work space it's pretty :D Yes I have a disco ball! I got that awesome desk for free from craigslist and it fits perfectly in the bay window bump-out!!!! I do want to add fabric to the front of the desk to cover my supplies organized underneath it.
some Stella Im Hultberg who i freaking love and part of my large photobooth collection..........
more art the tori piece is by Kent Meyer Jr. below it some cure tickets (hee hee) and then a little sketch/watercolor (an original) piece by Rebecca Guay of Delirium one of my all time favorite pieces and characters from The Sandman and then an awesome unicorn print by Stephanie Fizer I love love that print too! Now you are getting to see some of my favorite artists!!!!!!!!!
so I've had to be really creative with storage and space and organization and am still acquiring the right vintage (cheap) pieces to complete the room but I still love it the way it is even though it's full of stuff :D
this is my alter/meditation area with a special tribute to my dear friend I lost less than a year ago. I put special things and mementos I still have inside the box painting. It is quite perfect that the Morrissey poster is above her, she loved that poster which was a gift on my 17th Birthday (...a loooooong time ago).
my awesome deco vanity another craigslist find!
my jewelry/glasses collections and hats. I got the idea to hang my glasses that way from the awesome Elsie full of great decorating ideas and inspiration that one!
