This week's craft show, the Handmade Ho-Down, is sponsored by Etsy, and the stamp of approval from the large, respected online emporium of all things microproduced is wonderful. Etsy, however, makes us think of its own evil twin, a Web site called Regretsy. We hope the Ho-Down doesn't have too many items featured on Regretsy – Corn Poo Soap, eye-hurting fashions, or glass jewelry described thusly: "Dewey's dripping dick has been created in shades of green and the striped pattern has a nice depth to the colors." (A book is in the works, naturally.) Instead, tasteful, delightful items of high quality from vendors including East Bay art group Oaklandish, Eristotle eco-home furnishings company, and bath salt mavens Bathing in Luxury grace the tables. Our local makers would never let us down in the crocheted Sex and the City-earrings way, we're sure.
I'll be selling my crafty wares tonight along with my super talented friend Megan!!! Come by it's free and full of amazing handmade goods!!!! I have brand new mustache ornaments and gift tags!!!
