this post is amazing! Vegansaurus does it again and says it like it is! I have heard all of these 5 million times since I was 16, sometimes all of them in order, I've been mocked, harrassed, yelled at, challenged and asked WHY I don't eat meat only for them to proceed to rip me apart. I chose to not answer that question for many years, I also said it was innapropriate to discuss whilst eating. You would think that when I tell a carnivore that I don't want to discuss it because I'm tired of being attacked for my choices and answers they would let it go............nope then they just wanted to know why I was being so secretive and defensive about it.........weird. So then I started getting really irritable about it and say it's none of your business and I'm not answering questions about it. Keep in mind this was the mid to late 90's so being a veggie wasn't that mainstream yet and I lived in meat heavy conservative towns.
Luckily it's better than it used to be. People leave me alone a lot more. But I still get shit and people think it's funny............let me tell you right now IT'S NOT FUNNY. I do not antagonize meat eaters, I may give information, suggest they don't eat meat one or two days a week in disscussion, serve them amazing vegan food and discuss things not over food so why do meat eaters think it's ok to harass me? I've concluded it's meat eater guilt, massive defensiveness trying to mask it. The whole thing is really annoying.
Foodie trends are annoying. People attacking the MINORITY all the time is annoying. Meat eaters and foodies inability to take any criticism after slinging insult after insult at you is annoying. Seriously I called bacon a trend on pinterest and it was like I said no one should poop ever again! So I deleted the board which was entitled "trends that need to die". If you think that bacon everything and bacon being put into everything isn't a foodie/hipster trend you are A) in denial B) an idiot. Deal with it.
